My Favorite Hamlet Film

In class we are reading and learning about one of William Shakespeare's plays called Hamlet. It is a very intriguing play and it also is very good. Im not into all the plays and Elizabethan times but this play actually keeps me interested. We got to view three types of Hamlet movies. They are Hamlet by Franco Zefferelli -12th century, Ken Branagh - 19th century and Mike Almereyda - 21st century. They all seem very good but my favorite and the one I believe captured the right cinematic features was Hamlet by Ken Branagh from the 19th century.
To me this movie is the best just because of the setting, choice of wardrobe, and the effects. In this movie the setting of the palace is depicted well in comparison to Shakespeare's time. In some of the other movies the palace looked either too old or to modern I think in this movie the setting is depicted well. The wardrobes in this movie are on point. The rich have nice clothes and poor people have messed up and ripped clothing. In one of the other movies i remember seeing a peacoat. I do not think pea coats were in the Elizabethan times. Lastly the effects are amazing in my eyes. They did not go overboard with them to produce authenticity of the movie. For instance the ghost scene did not have too many effects but it made the ghost seem real and was kind of scary. This is why Hamlet by Ken Branagh was my favorite movie and the reason I love the play.

Alternate Ending To A Dolls House

Im picking up from when Dr. Rank tells her he loves her and that he will die soon.

Dr. Rank "Nora I am starting to know I am falling in love with you."

Nora: "I have to admit I also have some feelings for you."

Dr. Rank " What can we do I am going to die in one week."

Nora " First we have to get rid of Helmer."

Dr. Rank " How would we do that ?"

Nora "We lie and say he forged the note and you would be my witness."

Dr. Rank " Thats a great plan I have nothing to live for... but what will I do with all of my money?"

Nora" With him out of the way I can divorce him and marry you and I could keep it for you."

Dr. Rank " So I get to die with you by my side?"

Nora " Yes I will be here through it all !"

So Nora gets Helmer arrested for "forging the letter" and divorces him. The same day she marries Dr.Price he dies three days later. Leaving Nora rich and single with two kids. The definition of a Maneater

Curtain Falls .................... lol

After reading ACT 11 for A Dolls House I can see that it is turning into a good play. Its starting to become clear that everyones starting to tell the truth. For instance Krogstad confessed is love for Ms. Linde. We also found out that she left Krogstad for a richer man. Thats a no no but it seems to me that they are going to get back together. Another thing seems to be happening and that is the truth. Nora is about to be found out by her husband and she's nervous. Dr. Rank confesses his love for Nora and tells her he is going to die. So as you can see there is a lot going on in the story right now I don't know how it will end all I know is that it is turning out to be a great play.

Homework for May 26

To start off The Dolls House takes place around Christmas time in the late 1800s I believe. The Helmers seem wealthy or at least middle class. Its becoming an interesting play to act out. The characters add a good mood to the play though. Some of the main characters to know would be Nora shes the type of person that seizes any opportunity to get money from her husband. To me she is a gold digger and is in it for the money. This is wrong of her but smart when it helps her husband out in the end. In my opinion she is an immature woman almost like a teenager its like she has no life experience and is used to being spoiled. The only thing she has done in my eyes that was good is using her ravishing looks to interfere with the laws and save her husband by borrowing money. She is struggling to tell her husband about saving his life and forging her dads signature to borrow money. Another important Character is Torvald Helmer Nora's husband. He just got a promotion at the bank he works at and he is the dominant one in the relationship. To me i think he needs to be more controlling over where his money goes and what it goes to. Even if he doesn't know it saved his life. Next there is Krogstad the lawyer and the reason Nora could save her husband. He is trying to cope with telling Nora's husband and the authorities about their transaction and the forgery Dr. Rank is Torvald's best friend. The last important character so far is Mrs. Linde a widower and Nora's new friend.

This play is almost like my brothers gift to my mom that was to pay for her surgery behind her back she still doesn't know and wont I know its a bit personal but the only connection I have made to my life at this point. In my opinion it is starting to become a good play and should get better . Why should Nora hide the truth from her husband? Do you thing Krogstad will cause a big issue later to come?

Homework for May 17

The most I enjoyed about English class this year was reading novels. Lord of the Flies was probably my favorite novel this year especially watching the movie was fun. Another thing I love learning about in English was Caesar its an very interesting topic. Its amazing how a powerful man like him can be taken down in a heartbeat. But this year has been fun and I will miss it. Now we are learning about A Dolls House. Some facts you should know about the author are :

1. He claimed he never wrote plays about women's rights but A Dolls House is portrayed that marriage is a prison for women.
2. He was a dramatist and a poet.
3. When he was sixteen he was on his own because of his families financial problems.
Maybe that's why most of his plays have a dark background to them.
